Do you want to discover French language and culture or improve your French?

Nantes University offers you 2 or 4 weeks of learning based around themes of gastronomy, culture and the history of the Nantes region. Events include trying local foods, guided walks along the Loire, discovering French cinema and theatre and much more. In other words, the ideal ingredients for an authentic French summer in Nantes!
Our team of experienced university teachers organise intensively paced training using interactive content. Courses are available from levels A2 (Basic) to C2 (Advanced).

Cultural events linked to course content allow you to put your knowledge into practice.
Our programs are defined according to the principles of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Entry requirement

Academic requirement

The Summer Courses are open to candidates over 18 years old.
No diploma is required.
These courses are not suitable for total beginners (minimum level A2 required)
A placement test will place the participant in a suitable level group.
The registration for Campus Été does not give access to a student visa.

Target audience

In order to ensure a high quality of teaching that encourages exchange and communication, our centre welcomes a maximum of 20 participants per group

Programme

The course is delivered in three levels: elementary (A), intermediate (B) and advanced (C).
Students take an online placement test and an oral interview in order to place each student in one of the three level groups.

From 30 May to June 23, 2023:
Week 1 – Welcome to Nantes ! (get to know the city and live well in Nantes)
Week 2 – Let's eat! (cooking, eating & drinking)
Week 3 – Are we going out tonight? (leisure activities)
Week 4 - Follow the guide! (tourism in the metropolis)

Our courses are designed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
 

Learning objectives and contents

The content is adapted according to the levels and the needs of the participants.

The lessons will enable you to understand the written and oral functioning of the French language, through grammar and vocabulary lessons. You will learn to write different types of documents through class work and homework assignments which will be corrected in class. These courses place great emphasis on oral expression and vocabulary acquisition.

Free time is provided for you to enrol in complementary activities according to our programme: individual tutoring, cultural events and workshops.
 

In addition

For the duration of the course, it is possible to benefit from a University Library card (on registration) valid at the Language Resource Centre (large choice of works in French as a Foreign Language) and in all the libraries of the Nantes Université.

Full time

20 hours per week teaching.The lessons take place from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 am to 5 pm (lunch break 12-1.30 pm).

*If you are sponsored by public funds, please ask for a quotation from sul-campus@univ-nantes.fr in addition to your registration with simplified procedures. The fees include taking a mandatory official test (Test Bright)

The fee corresponds to 55 or 60 hours of tuition per semester and is non-refundable. The registration are valid for acceptance of the General terms and sales conditions.

Courses are open within the limit of available places and subject to a minimum number of participants.
