The DELF/DALF session of December 2020 will normally take place in the premises of the University of Nantes. Candidates will have to provide themselves with the exemption certificate during lockdown for exam reasons.

French version

DELF/DALF diplomas are awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates. Candidates can take DELF and DALF diplomas independently of each other, in the same country or in different countries and without any time limits.

DELF/DALF dilplomas consist of 6 separate diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2).
  • B1 DELF B1 Threshold level     
  • B2 DELF B2 Vantage level     
  • C1 DALF C1 Proficiency level
DELF and DALF diplomas are valid for life and are recognized worldwide.
Université de Nantes is an approved test centre for levels B1, B2 & C1 only.


DELF/DALF diplomas consist of 4 parts, assessing skills in:    
  • listening comprehension     
  • speaking    
  • reading comprehension
  • writing




Conditions of admission / Conditions of successful application

Registration for DELF/DALF is open to everyone. You do not have to be a student at the Université de Nantes to register. Any foreign national wishing to assess and validate their French skills for personal or professional purposes may take the exam. The same candidate may take several diplomas during the same session.


  • How to prepare for DELF/DALF ?
Candidates can practice with the books available at the Language Resource Centre. You can also visit  France Education International  websites which offers samples and practice papers, as well as a complete bibliography of resources. Free online resources are available :

  • DALF C1-C2 : 145€

Conditions of submission

If you have already taken the DELF or DALF exam and not passed it, you must send the following by e-mail at :
-  a copy of the official results from your most recent DELF or DALF exam
a written declaration to cancel your old exam result
